Linda Stein’s shocking murder
Linda Stein
62-year-old Linda Stein was a big fish in the big pond of New York City real estate. Her ex-husband, Seymour Stein, had been an executive in a record company so she was friendly with stars like Sting and Madonna. She had started managing rock groups like the Ramones. A successful manager, she knew everybody who was important in New York and hung out at “in” places like Studio 54.
When she decided to leave the music business and go into real estate, she was immediately successful in finding properties for her star-studded clients like Steven Spielberg and Elton John.
Linda was a 5’2” powerhouse with strong opinions and a “no holds barred” attitude. She was loud, funny, outspoken, and profane. She argued frequently with brawny construction workers who were doing work on the building. She had no problem confronting anyone about anything.
The murder
But at 10:30 at night, on October 30, 2007, her daughter Mandy found her lying in a pool of blood on the floor of her luxurious 5th Avenue apartment. She had been brutally bludgeoned to death. Her spine had been severed and she had cuts on her face and head. Mandy, hysterical, called 9–1–1.
