Florida Politics: Now I’m really scared
Bill SB 1248
Senator Blaise Ingoglia has introduced a bill, SB 1248, which would cancel the Democratic Party in Florida.
As a retired Democrat living in the Sunshine State, I’m really nervous.
Though apparently the Democratic Party is not mentioned in the bill, he has been clear that canceling the Party is his intended result.
His thinking behind this stunt is if the “woke Left” can remove statues of heroes like Robert E. Lee and Jefferson Davis, then the Democratic Party, which supported slavery as a part of its platform in the mid-nineteenth century, should be canceled too.
For years now, leftist activists have been trying to ‘cancel’ people and companies for things they have said or done in the past,” Ingoglia said Tuesday. “Using this standard, it would be hypocritical not to cancel the Democratic Party itself for the same reason.” (Blaise Imbroglia)
What could happen
There are 5 million Democrat voters in Florida, including me, who would no longer have any party affiliation. From what I understand, we poor bastards could still vote, but there’d be no mention of the Democratic Party on the ballots.
