Maybe not, but close.
In 2022, Anna Paulina Luna was elected U.S. Representative from Florida’s 13th congressional district, which encompasses popular and crowded Pinellas County, on Florida’s beautiful west coast.
The area has many tourists and is home to many retirees, me among them. I hadn’t paid much attention to her until I saw her large signs posted prominently throughout the area. They were hard to miss. Her photogenic face in the foreground, and Trump, who supported her, scowling in the background.
The large signs were especially prominent at local gas stations with her message to use American oil instead of importing it.
So who is she?
Anna Paulina Mayerhofer was born in 1989 in Santa Ana, California. Like most Americans, she has a diverse heritage, Mexican on her mother’s side, and German on her father’s.
She served in the Air Force for five years. She married a fellow soldier, Andrew Gamberzky, who is still in the Air Force and is stationed at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa. At the time, she took his name.
